Surfing small waves with a Paddle Board is relatively easy, even for beginners. This is one of the reasons why SUP is a mass sport with great popularity.
We cannot promise you that you will not fall. We can assure you that if you follow the instructions, you will learn quickly, and surfing will give you great pleasure.
- Before you start surfing, learn to move quickly back and forth on the paddle board and turn into a place with a small radius
- To catch the wave, accelerate with a few quick strokes, riding perpendicular to the wave.
- When floating on the front of the wave, step backwards if you feel the board nose sinking. Moving the weight backwards will slow you down and you may miss the wave, so try to resist the temptation to step back if you don’t have to. Bend your knees more and steer with the paddle and tilt your body to stay perpendicular to the wave.
- In smaller waves, you have to paddle from time to time to speed up and stay on the wave.
- When you’re done surfing, don’t jump off the board, but fall to your knees or step back and turn against the wave.
