Weekend kayak excursion around Ammouliani Island, between Sithonia and Mount Athos

Ammouliani is one of the closest inhabited islands to Sofia – only 360 km away. It is located between the second and third peninsulas of Khalkidhiki, opposite St. Forest. Small, pretty and beautiful, the island provides the perfect conditions for an ideal vacation. Its area is 4.5 square kilometers with numerous beautiful beaches and small harbors where one can enjoy the turquoise waters of the sea. Ammouliani is a suitable place for diving due to the purity of the sea and the variety of sea life. The island is also very green with low vegetation and olive trees. It is also suitable for amateur photographers, as it gathers different species of birds, the coastline is diverse and waved.

Day first: Departure in the morning from the assembly point in Sofia. The trip will last about 7 hours with breaks. We will arrive on the spot in the early afternoon. Followed by instruction, introduction to kayaks and equipment. Then, depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the group, we will either paddle directly to the beautiful small islands near Ammouliani or to Ouranopolis. In the second case we will explore the town, have a good time in the local taverns and return by kayak to the campsite at sunset. The departure to the island group will be the next morning. In both cases we will rest on the beautiful beaches with shallow water on the island of Drenia. Then we continue to the island of Ammouliani and the beautiful rocks and reefs of the southwest coast. When we arrive in Aliki we will have enough time for resting, sunbathing and playing and regain our strength in the local tavern. We may camp there or not, depending on the weather forecast.

Second day: We paddle to the islands or enjoy the sun all day on Aliki beach, row in the bay and play with kayaks. In the evening we can walk to the town of Ammouliani or stay in the tavern of the campsite. The fun depends only on us and the quality of our entertainment supplies 🙂

Third day: We finish the tour of the island, return to the city of Ouranoupoli and after lunch, we leave for Sofia.

We provide you with: guides, sea kayaks and equipment (paddles, life jackets, dry bags …), camping equipment (tents, sleping mats), travel insurance. We can also provide fishing equipment for sea spinning, if you are a fan of fishing and do not have such equipment.

If you prefer to spend the night at a hotel we will help with the reservation.

The transport is free, but it is recommended to use your own transport, and the price does not change.

A deposit of EUR 25 is required upon booking. The deposit is refunded immediately if the reason for the cancelation is in the travel regulations and restrictions related to Covid or if the group does not gather.
